Accomplishment and activities that I took part in over the last three months:
Ward One Resource Day
I hosted a Ward One Resource Day under the shelter at Moraine Park.
This resident first picnic style event was intended to allow for discussion and connection with residents and that is exactly what happened.
A key to this event was information to better connect residents with Twinsburg Youth Sports Leagues, Senior Services, how to connect with our building department to do things to review the list of registered contractors, file a permit or report a concern.
The summit county prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich was there and provided resources like a security pen to help prevent check fraud and information on how victims can connect with their advocacy program.
Rita Darrow the Summit County Council President provided information from a number of county offices and agencies including information to assist with property tax.
Kathi Powers along with the district HR director and Business manager participated and shared important updates regarding the city schools.
The library was there promoting their “library of things” tools, gadgets and such and so were the Boy Scouts soon to be renamed Scouting America promoting their programs.
Mayor Sam and Councilperson Furey was also there connecting with residents as were members of the JEDI Committee and the Environmental Commission. Thanks to these elected and appointed officials from our City Government for attending.
Twinsburg Fire and Police Police Departments were there to connect with residents and share updates about their departments
I’d like to thank all who helped make this day a success. I’ve already started planning the 2025 Ward One Resource day.
On August 6th I took part in the wastewater plant tour with the environmental commission.
Flushable wipes and food waste are an issue for the Waste Water plant. Please consider composting things like eggshells and coffee grounds.
Curbside Recycling Program
August 13, 2024 I toured WM’s new MERF in Oakwood Village, the state of the art sorting center for recycling. The link below has information regarding what is appropriate for the curbside program.

Leaf collection:
Twinsburg’s leaf collection program will begin in mid-October and continue through December, weather permitting. To help us serve you better and keep our neighborhoods looking their best, here are a few helpful guidelines for a smooth and efficient leaf collection:
Pile Your Leaves Properly: Please place your leaves in long, narrow piles parallel to the roadway. This makes collection easier and quicker!
LEAVES ONLY, Please: Make sure your piles contain only leaves—no grass clippings, ornamental grasses, perennials, or other garden debris.
Keep Piles Clean of Debris: To protect our equipment and keep the collection process running smoothly, please ensure your piles are free of branches, trash, dirt, construction materials, metal, nails, wire, or any other debris.
Please do not place your piles in the street, over storm drains, or in cul-de-sac islands.
Ward One Infrastructure updates:
Glenwood Waterline replacement is complete.
E. Idlewood Pedestrian Bridge
Portions of the pedestrian bridge from E. Idlewood to Center Valley Park bridge decking were damaged by heavy in early August rendering the bridge unusable.
Because the bridge is scheduled to be replaced later this fall there is a posted detour to access center valley trail, the playground and picnic shelter.
Ravenna/Shepard/Broadway/Richmond Intersection Improvement:
The project is anticipated to begin in 2025. A minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction for all roads will be maintained during the duration of construction and local access for abutting properties and adjacent streets will be maintained at all times. Construction and lane restrictions will be posted prior to the start of construction.
